Public Safety Memorial Wall to be unveiled in Jonesboro Thursday

CCPD patchOn Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., The Clayton County Police Department will host a ceremony for the unveiling of a newly constructed “Public Safety Memorial Wall” on Thursday, May 25, at their headquarters, 7911 North McDonough Street, Jonesboro.

The wall will serve as a permanent reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by the Clayton County public safety officials who have been killed in the line of duty.

Following Michael Register’s appointment as the Chief of the Clayton County Police Department in 2015, he had a vision for a Public Safety Memorial Wall which he shared with Mr. Kenny Hill (retired general manager of The Home Depot). Through the efforts of Mr. Kenny Hill, The Home Depot Corporation learned of the project and agreed to oversee the construction of the wall at no cost.

Construction of the wall began in mid-March and was recently completed through the labor of the Team Depot Foundation, which is an associate-led volunteer group that give their time and talents toward efforts in the communities where they live and work.
